He can’t take his eyes off me.
I remember Nicky Biancolli from junior high. Back then, he was always staring. My cousin warned him off, and after that, he faded into the background.
Now, ten years later, he’s in my mother’s kitchen at two in the morning, and there’s a dead man in a pool of blood on the floor. Lucca Corso—the rat who killed my father—says that if I don’t marry Nicky to make peace between our families, the little brother I raised is next.
I don’t have a choice.
I have to go with the man who looks like he wants to eat me alive, and I have no idea whether this is about following orders or something much darker.
All I know is that Nicky isn’t stalking me anymore. He owns me now, and no one is going to stop him from taking what he wants.
Nicky the Driver is a dark mafia romance. It’s the second book in The Underboss Insurrection series, but it can be read as a standalone. Intended only for adult readers. HEA guaranteed.
CW: eating disorder, family issues, stalking, dark themes, etc.
Welp. Apparently, I have a fave fictional stalker. I’ve really struggled to put my love for Nicky and Zita into words, so this review will probably just be a whole lot of fangirling.
If you enjoy dark romance, mafia romance, stalker romance, or all of the above, you need to read this book!
Cate C Wells crafted such a wonderful story with just enough of each of the above elements to keep me on my toes and completely intrigued. And the steam? Hot. I adore Wells and this book is just more proof that she is one of my all-time fave authors.
Zita is such a complex character. She loves hard, though struggles when it comes to loving herself. She’s tough and courageous, a little lost and indecisive, but a good person. She goes through so much growth in this story and I absolutely love her.
Nicky is Nicky. He’s a man who knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. And what he wants is Zita — always has and always will. He knows her inside and out and pushes all her buttons because he knows exactly how strong she is and how much stronger she could become. Especially when they work together as a team.
There were so many little moments between Nicky and Zita that only made me love this book harder, such as the pre-marriage counseling sessions, the Matty/Maddy/Marissa acceptance, and the simple awareness of each other in interactions.
As I mentioned before, Wells is a phenomenal author and I love her to bits. I can’t wait for her to continue this series, but I’m also happily waiting as I know she also has books from her other series in the works. (If you read Nicky the Driver and want to check out more of her books, I highly recommend them all. She writes MC romance, Mafia romance, small-town romance, and shifter romance).
