Synopsis

A Dance with the Fae Prince is a complete, *stand-alone novel*, inspired by the tales of Psyche and Eros, as well as Cinderella, with a “happily ever after” ending. It’s perfect for romantic fantasy readers who enjoyed of A Court of Silver Flames and An Enchantment of Ravens. A Dance with the Fae Prince features a slow-burn romance, swoon-worthy couple, and steaminess that ranges from simmering to sizzling.

If I could sum up a whole review into one sentence, it would be: Elise Kova writes stunning NA fantasy romance.
Truly stunning work.
A Dance with a Fae Prince is the second book in the Married to Magic series and just like the first book, A Deal with the Elf King, it is based on another well-known tale. The previous book was influenced by the Hades and Persephone myth; however, A Dance with a Fae Prince is inspired by the classic Cinderella tale. It’s also said to be inspired by The Cruel Prince, but to be honest, I don’t remember many details of that story so if you haven’t read it, it won’t impact your enjoyment of the ADWAFP. While not mentioned in the blurb, I also felt there were minor themes from Beauty and the Beast — which I love!
Please note: both books in this series can be read as standalones! There are minor mentions of the Elf King and Human Queen in this book but not enough to need to read these books in order.
One of the things I really love about Kova’s work is her writing style and storytelling ability. She writes really wonderful, unique and inspired tales in these complex, intricate and well-thought out fictional worlds. From the very first sentence, I was hooked and ready to go on this journey with Katria (the main character).
Without giving any spoilers away, I will mention that some of the reveals were quite obvious. If you’re paying attention, the clues are all there. But I still very much enjoyed each reveal as the longer it took, the more I started to second guess if I was actually on the right track! I also adored the ending. Katria’s personal growth and ability to maintain her class, dignity and self-respect was so beautiful to watch and had me applauding her on that final page.
Overall, another incredible tale in the Married to Magic series and another of Kova’s to add to my favourites list. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy romance, or anyone wanting to maybe take a step from YA towards the adult genre — it’s a perfect in-between story with some steaminess, without the scenes being too mature for teenage audiences.
