Review
Resurrection of the Heart is the perfect ending to what is an incredible trilogy. Right from the beginning, this series was full of drama, intrigue and steamy, dark romance – and Resurrection of the Heart picks up where Reparation of Sin left off meaning readers are thrown right back into the action. So much so, I ended up reading this in one sitting because I just had to know how things were going to end up.
One particular thing I enjoyed about this book is how I never quite knew where things were planning to go. As soon as I thought something would finally be resolved in ABC fashion, Knight and Zavarelli would throw a curveball and resolve that same issue in XYZ fashion instead. Basically, I was constantly kept on my toes and I loved it.
I’ll admit I felt certain things wrapped up a little too quickly at the end but I think I felt that way because I wanted more of the story and didn’t want this series to end at all. The good news, however, is not everything gets wrapped up because… I hear the authors are going to be writing spin-off series with the other characters and I CANNOT WAIT! I’m ridiculously excited to revisit some of my favourite intriguing side characters, get a better understanding of some of my lesser favourite characters and meet some new characters on the journey.
As always, Knight and Zavarelli are a dynamic writing duo and Resurrection of the Heart is just another great example of their brilliant work. The writing is beautiful and seamless, flowing easily between character POVs and keeping the story moving at a thrilling pace. Whenever I pick up a book by Knight and/or Zavarelli, I know I’m going to love it and this was no exception. If you enjoy dark romances or mafia-adjacent romances, I couldn’t recommend this series or authors more highly! Do yourself a favour and pick up the first book in this series (Requiem of the Soul) today!
