Blurb
My husband hates me. But he’s also the only man who can save me.
Taken by a stranger, Santiago is my only hope. Except that I don’t know if he’s dead or alive. And for as cruel as he can be, the thought he might be gone is unbearable.
But he has nine lives, my monster.
He’s not finished with me yet. And soon I’m back at The Manor. Locked in my room. At his mercy.
I know I am despised.
I know I have become the face of his vengeance.
But there’s something else too. Something between us. It’s a dark and gnarled thing. And it has its claws around my heart.
Review
Where do I even begin with Reparation of Sin?
Boy, oh boy! This book picks up from the almighty cliffhanger that was Requiem of the Soul’s ending. If you thought Requiem was a rollercoaster of emotion, get ready for Reparation!
In Reparation of Sin, readers discover that both Santiago and Ivy have just as many enemies as they do allies waiting in the wings… and no-one can be trusted.
What I really loved about this story was the constant intrigue and mystery. Even after reading this book, I still have no idea who is/are the villain/s. I’m usually pretty good at guessing how storylines will unfold but Knight and Zavarelli really hit this series out of the park with the level of stealth and secrecy happening. This dynamic writing duo really emphasise the SECRET in Secret Society.
This book also shows readers a little more about some of those side characters we love (to hate cough Mercedes cough 😉). I really enjoyed seeing more of Colette and Jackson’s back story and hope we get more in book 3! I also loved seeing Judge’s subtle but dominant command of Mercedes – and although I’m still not a Mercedes fan, I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about the strong, semi-silent Judge.
As previously mentioned, this book picks up where Requiem ended and so the majority of this book was tackling that issue and the apparent consequences of those actions. In that regard, there is a lot of back and forth between the characters of will they or won’t they, and what vengeance truly means. However, I will warn newbies to this series that Reparation of Sin is book 2 in a trilogy and therefore, absolutely ends on a cliffhanger!
The good news is thrice fold:
- Requiem of the Soul (book 1) is amazing and out now!
- Reparation of Sin (book 2) is amazing and out now!
- Resurrection of the Heart (book 3) is coming out next month and so the wait between cliffhangers is manageable-ish!😂
Basically, if you love Zavarelli and/or Knight’s previous work and/or you’re a fan of dark romance full of mysterious doings, read this series immediately! You won’t regret it.
