Review: The Office Party – Whitney G

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Synopsis

I can’t believe that I pulled my boss’s name for our company’s annual Secret Santa tradition…

As the devil incarnate, this infuriating, cocky bastard never gives us the holidays off, and he honestly expects us to be grateful for his generous alternative: The Office Party.

It’s a mandatory, all-expenses trip for two weeks at a surprise luxury resort—where we still have to work twelve to fifteen hours a day.

I’m so over this…

So, I put zero percent effort into his gift. I tear the tag off whatever my sister gifts me, add a five-dollar amazon gift card, and hand it off to him.

It’s not until my sister sends me a text that I realize how terrible of a decision that was.

Georgia: Why haven’t you sent me a ‘LOL’ about the brand-new vibrator I got you? I really do hope that you use your boss’s face as a muse, like my note says. 🙂

If that’s not bad enough, this year’s “luxury trip” will be in my hometown–the place I’ve avoided for years. At the resort that my grandmother owns…

If the universe gets me out of this, I will never ‘regift’ anything ever again…

Review

Whitney G has a new release, and it’s a fun, romantic comedy perfect for the holiday season! This was such an enjoyable, sexy novella, and exactly the type of lighthearted read Whitney is typically known for (though she has written a serial romantic thriller too, which everyone should check out!).

As a long time fan of Whitney’s work, I already knew I was going to love this one. The Office Party is told from the perspective of Savannah, a top level advisor to the delicious and jerk-ish hero, Garrett. Big boss, Garrett, is a workaholic and doesn’t believe in taking days off work – especially around the holidays. What he lacks in workplace flexibility, he makes up for in extravagant, expensive, resort-getaway office parties every Christmas. The only catch? Attendance is mandatory. And the ‘parties’? They’re weeks long and involve working.

Savannah’s plans to get out of the office party have been foisted in the past, but this year she’s going to get her revenge by regifting to her boss (the person she got in her Secret Santa) and showing him exactly how little she cares for his rules. Only problem is she didn’t actually check what she regifted…

What I really loved about this story was the sexual tension and quips between Savannah and Garrett. Whitney knows exactly how to build the tension to keep readers on their toes, and the story always felt fresh and entertaining. Another bonus was the level of ‘holiday’ in this holiday read. I don’t usually read many Christmas-themed books, but this was the perfect level of holiday cheer for the current season, yet also not so much so that it could very easily be read year-round.

Overall, this was another fantastic read by Whitney G. As always, it was a delight to see what she’s recently been working on and I cannot wait to see what else she brings out in the future.
