In Her Sights is my first novel by Katie Ruggle and one that was highly recommended to me by ThisBiblioLife. I am so incredibly grateful for the recommendation because it was exactly what I needed to read. In Her Sights is based on Molly and John, two opposing bounty hunters around the Rocky Mountains region, teaming up to track down a dangerous skip and resulting in more time to achieve their bigger goal: tracking down Molly’s criminal mother and saving Molly’s family home.
This story managed to perfectly balance the action and romantic suspense, with Molly and John’s budding relationship and hilarious banter. It gave me strong Julie Garwood vibes (her romantic suspense series) in that the writing, setting and characters were timeless; an amazing skill for writers and a huge compliment since I love her books! Even with the mention of laptops and cell phones, I could see this story play out in the 90’s, 00’s or present day; and I was surprised to find out that the novel was only published earlier this year. The story was fun and fresh, and left me wanting more. I also enjoyed that everything wasn’t neatly wrapped up in one book because I think it would have felt too rushed and now I have even more to look forward to with book 2: Risk It All. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys fun, romantic suspense stories or is a fan of Julie Garwood. I’m looking forward to reading more of Ruggle’s stories in the future.
